Wood never goes out of style, fits into any décor, adds value to your property and is a good option for people with allergies. The industry-wide commitment to sustainable forestry also makes it an environmentally friendly choice.
There are two major options in wood flooring- solid & engineered wood. Both are 'real' wood products but there are differences.
Solid Wood – is solid piece of wood (of varying thickness) of a singular species. Solid wood will expand & contract as the humidity levels of the room change; expert installers take care of this by leaving an expansion gap between the floor and the wall and conceal it with molding.
Engineered wood - is made of multiple wood layers, stacked in perpendicular directions and bonded together under heat and pressure. Once the floor is laid, only the top layer is seen & that's the layer made of the high-quality wood you want; the layers underneath can be of different species. The method of stacking makes engineered wood products dimensionally stable; thereby not as affected by changes in humidity & temperature and able to be installed anywhere including spaces with large shifts in humidity and temperature levels, like basements.
Proper installation is critical to the look, wear and durability of wood floors – especially solid wood. Our expert installers are the best in the Capital Region; they'll make sure the job is done right.
